The best chefs in Germany voted: The best chefs that make up the top 100 in the Volkenborn ranking cast their votes in the gourmet portal “Die-besten-Köche.com” for one month and chose the best one of their peers in various categories.
In the category “The Best Chef in Germany”, Joachim Wissler won ahead of Harald Wohlfahrt and Klaus Erfort.
The vote was based on the so-called Volkenborn list, which has used an elaborate system for 21 years to assess which chef is in which position in the national ranking. It is based on the established restaurant guides such as Michelin, Gault Millau and Varta.
The restaurant Vendôme was voted one of the top 50 restaurants in the world for the first time!
Germany has a total of three entries in the Top 50. The gourmet restaurant Vendôme is in 34th place and thus the best German entry.
The 700-odd judges of the renowned gastronomy magazine “Restaurant Magazine” thus awarded star cook Joachim Wissler the “best newcomer" distinction. The „San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants“-Award was initiated by the British magazine ‘Restaurant Magazine’ in 2002. The exclusive votes of renowned international judges, who are all members of the Nespresso World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, decide whose name will appear on the list. The academy includes nearly 700 cooks, gastronomers, journalists and restaurant critics.
