THE WINE AWARDS 2008 at Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg
On Saturday, 15th March 2008, Germany's leading wine magazine "Der Wein Gourmet" presents the annual WINE AWARDS 2008. This year, Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg hosts the award for the fifth time. Join our international group of four winegrowers - plus a surprise celebrity - in the largest Baroque castle Northern Europe, as we celebrate the sparkling success of this annual event.
This year Wine Awards will be presented in the following categories:
* Lifetime Achievment Award
* Winegrower of the Year
* Newcomer of the Year
* German Winegrower of the Year
* Wine Gourmet of the Year

18:00, aperitif in the Lobby
19:00 the 2008 Wine Awards
From 20:30 hours, you are invited to experience culinary sensations from the kitchens of the Althoff Hotel's top chefs, including: Joachim Wissler (Restaurant "Vendôme", Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg, Bergisch Gladbach), Dieter Müller & Nils Henkel ("Restaurant Dieter Müller", Schlosshotel Lerbach, Bergisch Gladbach), Bernhard Diers (Restaurant "Zirbelstube", Hotel am Schlossgarten, Stuttgart), Hans Sobotka (Restaurant "Endtenfang",Hotel Fürstenhof, Celle) und Thierry Thiercelin (Restaurant "Villa Belrose, Hotel Villa Belrose, Saint Tropez). These chefs will be posted at various stations, preparing fresh food espacially for this unique occasion.
In various rooms throughout the castle, you will be treated to the wines of famous vineyards with the winegrowers themselves in attendance. You can look forward to a lavish display of fireworks, in addition to several other surprises.
22:30: the first waltz begins in the Ballroom, with our big band playing classic dance songs, swing and pop. A Midnight Buffet will fortify you for the night ahead.
